La Fleur

The Flower.

DJ and music maker based in Berlin. When not making clubs dance La Belle Fleur is making music. And it's all about the electronic music
.

Normally I would have a YouTube clip with one of La Fleurs tracks instead of a picture but that is not possible. It's not possible for two reasons. The first reason is because I have been affected by the growing Internet censuring that is taking place everywhere, but the second reason I one can never get around. There is no track from La Fleur on YouTube. This is a real shame, especially since she recently dropped a EP named Flower Head on her label Power Plant Records. A really good EP, it's no wonder that she's an authority on electro in Sweden.

With that said I recommend you to got to La Fleurs web page and myspace and listen to her tracks and mixes. And to make it a bit easier for you all you gots to do is use these links.

So listen and enjoy and if you live in Stockholm or Berlin just keep an eye open, she is bound to have a gig soon.

Oxia Sun Step

Step it up.

Here is another build up for the weekend. Oxia with his latest release. Sure it's from 2009 but it will still make you dance.

Oxia is a DJ from France that started out in the late 80's but first became a club DJ in 1991. From being a resident DJ in a club in Grenoble he is now one of the biggest names in the techno/house scene.

He had a gig here in Berlin not long ago but it's probably gonna take some time before he has another one. Not to worry, with releases like this you're bound to hear his tunes on a floor close to you.

Jesper Dahlbäck Dash One

For Saturday.

To build up for "Be The Weekend" here is a track from Jesper Dahlbäck. It might not be the latest track released in the music world but it should make you want to move your feet.

Starting to make music with the age 17 you can hear that the man has experience when it comes to this type of music. That also might be the reason why this track is somewhat harder than what's being played in the charts.

Jesper Dahlbäck is playing at Arena Club this Saturday. An excellent opportunity to "Be The Weekend". But we all know what happens before that.

Röyksopp.

This Must Be It.

Another one from Röyksopp. A bit darker a bit colder.

This Must Be It comes from the album Junior, the same album as one of my favorite songs (Happy Up Here) is on. Röyksopp has managed to bring a nice sound that works well with Karin Dreijers extraordinary voice. A voice that can be hypnotising at times. And the result becomes something that can be described as a darker and sadder chill-out music.

But seen in the right mood it's not a negative song. More like a song to put as a soundtrack for an old memory. But it's not something that you should listen to when you're feeling alone in a big empty room. Do that to often and you're not gonna be a fun person. Or a happy one at that.

Anyways, it's time to kick back, play the song and enjoy.

A Clockwork of Orange.

Alex and his Droogs.

Kubricks film adaption of Anthony Brugess book might not be that far away. At least not when it comes to the electro scene.

When seeing many of the artists that make it big in the electro scene I can't help but to think of Alex and his droogs. People seem to have opened up their minds to a fashion that not long ago would have bin seen as strange.

Only the other day at Halloween I saw not one but two Alex. But that was not all. At least 20 or more were dressed in a way that easily could have been taken from one of the street gangs in A Clockwork Orange. Sure, at Halloween it's not strange to see a Alex but to see so many in a club that is not fully branded as a electro club. That means that this fair city must be overcrowded with people just waiting to put on the bowler hat. A bowler hat or sparkling military jacket.

The Droogs of Berlin do not look as hard as Alex's but thank to places like Bar 25 it is just a matter of time before you will see them on a weekend that is not carnival.

So, Stanley probably had it right. Soon we will be sitting in a bar like The Korova Milkbar getting really for a bit of the old ultra-violence.
