I Love Lamp.

The name is Aläng and it is suppose to be a Swedish word. I have never heard this word and I'm Swedish. I guess IKEA is slowly running out of names. But I saw that that was happening some time ago. Anyway, this is a nice lamp. It goes very well with a black leather couch and a red chair.

IKEA might not have the most lets say stable furniture. And the mass production does not make your purchase very special. But and that's the hook, there stuff has a good price for what you get. And that's the whole idea. A idea that change the way we think when it comes to furniture. Back in the days people bought hand made furniture. Big wooden things that was past from generation to generation. But when IKEA started that changed, people didn't want old they wanted new. And now people want new every two years or so. When you do that why buy things that last long.

Be aware! IKEA is taking over the world. But you didn't hear that from me.

Coraline is a animated movie that uses different animating techniques to create something, hmm... strange. But it is a interesting alternative reality. One to easily get lost in. And I guess that is what this is about. Don't get to lost in an alternative reality! You might not find a way out. Or it's no more than a Alice in wonderland telling kids not go to far from there parents.

And I am sure that some might like it so much that they watch it 420 times...

Another White T-Shirt.

I Leaf Stan Smith.

Since summer is still going or is showing it's first really hot days it's time for another white t-shirt. This tee is cool and clean because of the logo and the connection to the Stan Smith sneaker. But it is really clean.

Company's sometimes produce things that we want, but do not produce enough of them. To make there brand more exclusive or just so the laws of the free market will drive up the price. I guess it's all about the money.

Disappearing Civil Liberties Mug

Gone with the heat.

The Bill of right seem to be disappearing and it is. So here's a mug that shows that. When the heat goes up the rights fade.

A funny way of pointing out that what ones was is now slowly disappearing. Sometimes it's a bit scary that rights seen as set in stone now seem not to be worth the paper there written on. And when basic human rights are removed we move towards a place that reminds me of 1984. I like the idea but the design could have bin a bit better.

I hope the right of free speech will survive here on the Internet.

Adidas Nizza Consortium

Style for some.

Sneaker Monday, I took a good look on what is on offer out there on the sneaker front and I was not to happy with what I found. Off course taste is different from person to person but still it's calm out there. No immediate winners. After closer inspection I found the Adidas Nizza Consortium hi top, this is not my style but if I was rich or company's where giving me free stuff (hint hint) I would definitely get a pair of these guys. If I had more money I would buy them.

When looking for sneaker the key is cleanliness, clean in the sense that the lines are simple but still powerful, that the colors match each other and are not to "loud" and that the shape fits with the overall concept. This is not always easy to find. But I found it with this one.

I hope that the supply of fresh sneaker's pick up and if you have a sneaker that needs some spotlight or something else that should be seen, then you know what to do.

May The Stick Be With You.

Information, communication and transportation. Three very important things. And anyone working in an office knows that a Usb stick will come in handy. This stick can do all what a normal Usb-stick can but this one adds one more thing, design.

These guys just show that today everything is designed and that everything can be redesigned as the product's importance change. And why not? If the price is not to high there is no reason not to choose the thing that is designed to make you feel just a bit happier. If the aspect of humans well being on a more "feeling" based level would be incorporated in the design of everyday items, we might all live in a better world. Or it would just be nice to have something that might put a smile on your face.

I just say I like these small star wars guys and I would like to have one. But I'm not going to go out of my way to find one.

Männertag

Father's Drunk Day.

Tomorrow is Father's day in Germany, but it's not only called father's day and it isn't about giving your dad a tie. No, tomorrow is Männertag (mans day).

This celebration has moved on from coffee and cake and a last minute gift to the old man. Now it's the day of the year when all men in the country gets a free pass and can go out and get drunk. Drunk off your ass and it's only lunch time, no problem, your not alone. Tomorrow almost everyone is having one to many beers.

It's not uncommon to get ones friends together, load up a wheelbarrow with beer, snaps and food supplies and hitting the road. Decorating your bike and running around town is also a classic when it comes to this national holiday.

Asking a friend on his thoughts about this day he responded,
- Männertag is a nice day, it's when you just hang out with your friends and drink a beer. I know some who will go fishing, others will just hang out in the park and grill. And it's not only the guys who are celebrating. A group of girls I know will also be out partying.

Some might not like the overall drunkenness of this day, to them I say, Have a beer and chill!

That said, I will be celebrating in my own way tomorrow. Maybe even tonight. And knowing myself I will be to hung over for a post. See you on Friday.

The Red Chair.

Sit Like a King.

Not long ago I posted about the black leather couch, now here is the red wingback chair to go with it. Just look at it, is that not something that could stand in a castle?

Off course it is and chairs like it have for a long time. For good reason. Even if this is a bit of a re-design of the classic original, the idea and the essence is there. It's red, it's mohair/velvet, it has the copper nails and out of a eclectic viewpoint it will work anywhere.

Unfortunately there is a drawback, chairs like this one stood in castles for a reason, they are expensive. But if you pay for quality a chair like this will be something your kids will have in there living room.

It's all about what goes with what.

Nike Classic Cortez

Classic Nike.

Just wanted to start a new thing here. Sneaker Monday will now appear every other Monday. Or at least on Mondays to come. I will be looking around for nice sneaks and see what I find. Because we all know that it is some what of a jungle out there.

The Nike classical Cortez was designed for sports and running. Originally made out of nylon they have moved towards the street wear with changing it to leather. In my mind this is a type shoe, that meaning that this shoe fits to one type of style. If you wear jordans or air force one's and then show up in these, you will be wearing something out of your type. This is not a bad thing it's just that it can mess with your overall style and the shoes will probably not really match the clothes your wearing.

None the less this sneak looks good, a clean cut and the colors are easy and set in a good combo. I just wonder how comfortable they are. And I hope no kids where involved in making them.

Got to thinking about this puzzle. Once the trend of yuppies everywhere with one goal, to have it solved on your desk. I guess it was to show off how smart and therefore how powerful you are. And it must have worked. For a while. I wonder how many math students got pay in cash or cocaine to solve this cube for the party boys of wall street. Probably not as many as the positions in which it can be set, 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 to be exact.

But I don't see it as just a toy, a puzzle game or something to brag with. I see it as a very well designed piece of art. Something to have laying around for it's optical purposes. Bragging or not, cool thing to have.

American Dad

Cartoon Americana.

There the core family, two kids, two cars, a pet, a house in suburbia and off course an alien. The all american family.

I really like this show. Seth Mcfarlane got it right with this one. He got the practice from Family Guy and moved on with this. The references and jokes are more out there. As well as the characters, how could one not like Roger the alien drunk?

The show has not hit Europe the way Family Guy or The Simpson's has, over here it is hardly known at all. I think it has to do with the way it was brought to us. The first season was aired on MTV in many EU-countries. But the mistake was that they put it late at night and that they dubbed it to the different countries native tongue.

If it was not for the Internet and nice people ripping it and uploading it, I would never be able to see it. You know what that means.

The Pirate Party.

Party for the Pirates.

In June of this year the European union has it's elections. A total of 496 198 605 people in 27 countries will be affected by the outcome. This means that this is just as important as the elections for the senate and congress of the U.S.

Europe is going to the polls. And in Sweden it looks like The Pirate Party is going to get the acquired votes for a chair in the EU-Parliament. This party is a minority party that is based on the idea that information should be free. That downloading should be free.

France just past a law that will exclude people who download from the Internet. Sweden past a law that gives the government the right to monitor in reality all Internet traffic is the country. And many more countries around the world are passing laws that can be used to turn normal people into criminals for sharing information. So the time is right, I believe that there is a use and a need for a party like this. Just like the small environmental party's back in the day. They helped the green movement. Now there is a need for a Pirate Movement.

Because information should be free, the Internet should be free. Without freedom of speech we're screwed. So remember to vote. You can also start your own Pirate Party in the country you live. Who knows you might one day be a parliamentarian in the EU.

A basic combination piece like this works almost anytime. Combined with your favorite sneakers it will not let you down. And it can be acquired at rodeo drive as well as at the suburban mall.

Why grey? Why Zip? Why not? Unlike a white jacket or hoody a grey one will not get dirty just by you sitting down on a bench. Grey will not let you down that easily. I like the zip much more than the original collage sweater or hoody. With the zip you are more flexible and if the temperature gets to high then valuable seconds can be gained. But most of all, you can sport that clean white tee you bought last weekend. Since it's all about layers.

And later on when the weather gets cooler, show the hood under a jacket, pretty much any jacket will work with a grey hoody.

Mad Max.

I am the rocker, I am the roller, I am the out-of-controller!

With a line like that, with a poster like this, It can't be anything but cool. Even though I almost prefer movie 2 and 3 better. 1979, almost the 80's brought us this movie. The Australian post apocalyptic cult movie that didn't only give us Mel but also inspired a lot of things in today's subcultures.

And the idea is not that far off. What would happen if the rockets starts flying and we are left with a dried up world. A dried up world where the one with the most guns is king. It's hard to imagine but one day we might stand there all the same. I just hope that we stop holding oil as the best fuel until it's to late. This dependency on oil is slowly pissing me off.

So maybe it's time for a new Mad Max. Hollywood doesn't seem to be coming up with anything new. There thing is remakes and sequels. So why not a remake/sequel of this cult movie. I know I would pay to see that.

GTA 4

Virtual Gangster.

Tires screaming as the car runs trough the streets. The gun in your hand, it's all about the all mighty dollar. Time to cash in.

I know that this games has bin around for a while, but the best is the best. And seeing it in a store the other day reminded me that not long ago the game was released on PC. Sure the PS3 has it's charm but I always liked it better with a keyboard and a mouse. That's where I first played one of the GTA games. Back when it was truly you playing one of the bad guys in cops.

The game also pioneered the concept of a "free" world, a place where you did not have to do as instructed. A city in which you can go anywhere and do anything. I always wished that they would expand this part of the game to make almost a city simulation. I do think that GTA 5 is going even more in that direction. But a GTA 5 is probably gonna see the day of light exactly when the PS4 hits the streets. Wonder why?

Just the cover makes this a game a must.

Low energy light bulb.

Shine a light.

Could it be better? Stronger, better, cheaper and cooler. Getting these installed is not only good for you but for everybody.

I thought about this little thing the other day. And even if it sound hippie, after changing all my bulbs to low energy ones I feel a lot better. First because it's a good thing to do, second because I know that I'm saving money. Saving money being so in when a so called "financial crisis" is eating up our money.

And just look at this little thing, it look a lot better than the old style ones. A bit like how they would imagine light bulbs in the future in the 70's. Sure they don't fit in every lamp but who cares. Soon all lamps will have adopted the new standard.

A must in the living room.

Sitting, reading, watching, eating, drinking is all done on the couch. That being said, a couch that last is worth a great deal. A sofa to me is suppose to last for a number of years. It is suppose to give you that - Well, at least I have the sofa issue taken care of.

What better way than to get a black leather couch. Find the right one and you might even have a friend for life. I think that a sofa like this one from Baxton Studio can give the right feeling to any living room. Any room with white walls and darker wood details can look great with this sitting spot. Turning it a bit to that lounge that you like.

When the world turns to the Ipod everyone has small often shitty white headphones to show that they too have jumped on the I-train. Sure the "I-phones" look okay, but there not nearly as retro as these guys. Brought to us in the Big Brother year of 1984 they do not only kick ass when it comes to style but also when it comes to sound.

I like this clean style of design. It's no wonder these headphones have lasted as long as they have. A classic is a classic.

And on another note, going jogging with the "I-phones" is always a problem, the guys and girls who designed the head phones they did so for some weird ears that must suck in the headphones. That problem is completely removed with the Porta Pro. Not to mention the excellent money to quality ratio.

To the Barricades.

Tomorrow is the first of May, a holiday for the worker. On this day you don't need to work but you should go out on the streets and demonstrate you views and show you discontent. And for such activities you need a Palestinian scarf. This is not only a fashionable accessorise but also a vital street war necessity. A piece of combat gear with many uses. As the pandemic moves on and spreads the scarf can be used as a mask. As a mask the scarf hides you identity from all watching big brother, if soaked with water it makes it easier to breathe when the teargas comes flying and since your in a big crowd the germs will also have a hard time to get through.

It does not stop there, if you or a fellow fighter gets injured it can be uses as bandage until the medics can get there. And I'm sure that it can be used as a rope to tie thing together.

But in later days this scarf has hit the big fashion outlets and can be bought in all colors. No longer a way of showing solidarity with Palestine or ones political views. So how to wear this scarf. Well, the white with black or white with red can be a nice detail. All depending on what you wear with it. I like the green with black, the military one.

Track Jacket.

High Standard.

The classic addidas track jacket comes in many shapes and sizes. And it's easy to understand why. This is a favorite for a lot of people, in my mind maybe to many. But that does not matter. Addidas just managed to get it right. When this jacket made the jump from sports wear to street fashion it opened up a lot of new options. It's easy, clean, cool and with a lot of style, at least when it comes to the way I see style. The right shapes and colors that works so well that less really is more.

It might sound like this is an add for addidas but they are not a friendly brand. They are like all international labels, they make to much money on stuff made in China. The profit margins are always over 100%. And on the green note they make most of there things in cotton.

None the less, even if some would say that other brands makes better track jackets they all lack that original style. Some favorite designs are the Philippine, celtics, dangerous danes and the classic blue. But be aware it's a jungle out there.

The sound of fire.

When talking about smokes you need something to light the son of a bitch with. And here it is, Hollywood's favorite lighter and in a sense the cliche of a lighter. The Zippo in definitely nothing new but the reason it's bin around so long is that it's simply cool. Started up back in 1932 it is one of the, if not the most famous lighter.

The thing with this thing is that you have to take care of it to make it work. There are part that needs to be changed and you have to refill it. This makes it in to a some what of a prized possession that one keeps close. And as time goes it's nice to have your lighter friend around.

It is clean in it's silver casing. Matches the cigarette case and lights your smoke with style. The only real draw back of it is the fact that you have to fill it with highly refined oil. Smoking is not something to glorify but it is something people do. And if you do it, then do it with a bit of style. Ever since cigarettes people have bin carrying there smokes. And off course the ones with money carried them in silver, gold or even diamond cases. As the tobacco got cheaper and more available "common people" started to smoke cigarettes and that leads us to today. During the late 50's and in the 60's no one cool wanted to carry something that is seen as snobbish and old generation. There was a revolt and things like this got disregarded.

But I think that's different now, do you want to carry your habit with style then get one of these guys. There's a thousand different ones but this silver'/metal case is with out a doubt the cleanest one out there. And there not that expensive and who really cares if it's real silver or not. Part 2 of the nightmare.

It's all about a government helping it's people. It gives you one girl back. These things are only possible when a people trusts it's government (and off course when that government is run by smart people). Unfortunately that is changing. Many are thinking that they really should get rich or die trying. What we all should be aware of is greed. Greed being the reason for this "financial crisis" that we are experiencing.

Wyatt maneged to visit in the grayest of moths. Stockholm is a melting pot of different cultures and people. It's a wonderful country, well at least in the summer. For those who don't know what to make of it and mix up Sweden with Switzerland and think polar bears roam the streets should go for a visit and see for them self's.

People are kind, so kind that they feel sympathy with the person who kidnap them. That's what happen when a man took 3 women and a bank clerk hostage in a bank in Stockholm in 1973. Maybe this is because the hostage taker was also such a nice guy that they couldn't help but to like him. That's where the title come from.

Socialist Nightmare?

The Daily show goes to Stockholm and sees what evil taxes and social democratic views will do to a country. Off course this is not all true but as a Swed it is very funny. There are a lot of good things with Sweden, some of them are brought up in the video but there are also problems. Sweden has bin a country of sound government and has achieved a high standard of living. Finding a middle way between socialism and capitalism. Having a social network that takes care of all it's citizens. The conservative/right wing parties are trying to change that and to make it more like the U.S, and not the good things with the U.S but the bad.

And the idea that it's impossible to get rich is not correct. Just the apartment shown in the clip would cost between 500,000-1000000 euro if not more. The image would be different if they showed ABBA's houses.

In my mind this clip is something that fits very well with the ongoing marketing of Sweden. I really look forward to part 2.

Bust a cap.

Superior fit.

Hats come in a lot of shapes, colors and styles. And here is the undisputed king of baseball caps. These caps are no longer what you wear to support you home team in that true American pass time. Well off course some do but the majority has them to look good. New era has bin around for a while now and I would guess that's because they make the official caps for the major league. But in the last couple of years they have moved there focus to make an enormous number of different caps. There are thousands and thousands of these.

So which one should I pick? Well first of all if you have a favorite team then pick that teams cap. To make sure that you don't look like a hypocrite. I live in Europe and here we don't give a crap about baseball so here it doesn't matter. But for the ones in the US this could matter. Don't pick one that has to many colors, it might seem cool now but after a week or two that screaming green is not going to be so much fun. And off course it's hard to match with your clothes. If you wear more white than black, pick white and the other way around. And make sure that you get the right size because you can't change it. Get it a bit bigger if your thinking about growing longer hair. But a good quality peace.

Chicken delicious, Chickalicious.

BBQ's finest.

There is something about cooking meat on a grill. The fire's glow, the smoke and then the smell of meat being roasted to perfection. The best stuff here is really chicken. Chicken that has bin marinaded for at least 12 hours. Try this recipe the next time your making chicken.
Get some nice chicken breast. Cut it to long stripes, smaller peaces will absorb more flavor. Put them in a plastic bag. Then pore a little cola and honey in the bag. Spice with oregano, pepper, thyme and if you like spicy a little chili. Leave that in the fridge for 24 hours and then simply trow it on the grill. That's how you make the Max honeylicious chicken.

New studies show that chicken is the most environmental meat out there. Many chickens for a small amount energy. But the real advantage is the high protein rate in this meat. Filled with protein and low on fat. Chicken is what made men like the Governator and Sly Stallone well that and a lot of pills.

The Sun is shining.

Shades are required.

Even walking to work I now need to put my shades on. Not long ago the idea of this would never have entered my mind, but now as we find ourselves in the end of April, it's just different. The sun is back. Oh yes, the sun is back.

Sun glasses is not a new thing, it's bin around for a while, the chines had them in the 12th century. The Inuits also had shades but not using glass but instead having narrow slits to make less light hit your eyes. Wonder if they also use there sun glasses as a fashion accessory.

But which pair should one choose? There is a lot of different ones to pick from. My favorites has always bin the aviator shades. Not only because you can combine them with almost any set of clothes but also the fact that they give you that inconspicuous edge. I see you but you can't really see me. But I would say -Why stop at one pair?, don't buy brand names that cost so much more than they should. Buy many different pairs in different colors to match the stuff your wearing that day. And who really cares if you don't have designer labels on your sun glasses. I don't and you shouldn't. Cheap sun glasses might not last very long but why should they? Next year the fashion is different anyway.

The white T-Shirt.

Shine in White.

Spring with summer on it's way. That means T-shirt and preferably a white one. This peace of clothing was originally something you wore under your shirt and was not intended to be shown at all. We all know how that have changed. Today people use T-shirts to define themselves and what views they have. Or just a statement "I love pizza" that really shows just how ironic and funny people can be. The other day I tried to find a white T-shirt. The thing is I would like a T-shirt that is made with organic cotton or even better one made of hemp so that the energy used during production will be as low as possible. But for a hemp tee you need to find a hippie store. And hippie stores normally don't have the kind of tee I would like. That is to say stuff without batik patterns. A straight, clean cut on a white hemp T-shirt would be sweet. After looking for a while I found a sign saying Eco-cotton. But off course none of the white T-shirts laying under the sign was my size. And after looking closer I see that it's just 50% Eco-cotton in the fabric. If the world still can't make a electric cars that just runs on electricity then me finding a 100% Eco-cotton tee is not going to be done with ease.

What controls our day if not time.

We all need to make sure we know the time.

Time moves even if we want it to or not. We all think of it as linear with a beginning and a end. The Mayans saw it as elliptic with no end and no beginning, but something constant, something that always changed. They also thought that the world will end the 21st of December 2012 so maybe we could take it with a little bit of salt.

It does not matter if we are stressed of calm, got time to waste or not much time at all. We all have to tell it some how. And this is by fare the coolest way to know what time it is. The Casio wrist watch, simple but yet so sophisticated. Casio Computers Co Ltd is a company that started up right after the big bombs fell over Japan, it's interesting that there first product was a ring to hold your cigarette so you could still smoke while going other things such as making love,golfing or why not playing tennis. Wonder where I can find one of those.

I have had this classical time checker for a couple of years now and always liked it that people around me didn't really understand the beauty and charm of it. But now the cat is out of the bag, I read in magazines about this being the new cool watch to wear. With all right.

The 80's is the time to get your inspiration from, so read time like they did in the 80's.
