White T-shirt.

Blinding.

I have said it once and I'm saying it again. Everybody needs a couple of white t-shirts in the wardrobe.

Strangely enough they have named this tee Bad. Must be because it's a v-neck and the model is wearing leather pants. Or maybe you feel bad once you paid for it. Because it's not just a white t-shirt, it's from Acne and it cost 50€.

You might wonder why you should pay that much for a tee that's just white. Here's the thing. A white tee is a basic part of any wardrobe. You are going to need one more often that you think. And as I have say before, you can go in two different ways when it comes to this. Many cheap ones that generally have a bad shape (or loss their shap) or you can suck it up at get a couple of expensive ones that keep their fit.

I would personally recommend a mix of the two. Have a bunch of cheaper ones for weekdays and fall and winter when you have other thing over and then have expensive ones for the weekend and summer when your entire outfit depends on the t-shirt.

Just saying.

Christmas Vacation.

Happy Holidays!

Vacation, one of the few things that separate people from animals. The time when you can drop the worries and take it easy and simply relax.

One of the best things with winter is Christmas and one of the best things with Christmas is the vacation. And to get the most out of the Christmas vacation one should be where there is snow, family and friends. Which makes it logical to go back to the old country in the north. Soon I'm heading to Sweden to celebrate Christmas. And since I take my vacation serious The Best Stuff I See will be back next year.

But don't worry, I guess you haven't read all that's in the archives. Some of the favorites this years must be The Garlic Tea, Afghan Opium, Revdes, The AK47 and of course The Good with Fall series.

With that said I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. And before we know it it's 2010 and The Best Stuff I See will be back stronger and better just like all of you.

Supra "The Gunny"

Muska Skytop.

It's Monday and Mondays mean Sneakers.

Supra has made a classic with the Skytop. And here is that classic in a all gray TUF limited edition. Supra is a up and coming brand and it really is this model that has brought them there.

This one is really a winter sneak. Dark in color and made from a material that can stand up against the weather. The down side as always is that it's expensive and will be hard to find. But for the one that has the money and the luck to find it this will be a true contribution to any good sneaker collection.

Clean is really the way to describe em...

The Dry Martini.

Classy Classic.

The most well known cocktail of them all. This one is for the pros.

This one is really simple to make, just take 5,5 cl of gin and mix it with 1,5 cl of dry vermouth, add a olive and you are done. Of course you should mix the gin and vermouth in a shaker with ice and then poor it in a chilled martini glass. That goes without saying.

Even if this is a very basic and simple drink, people take it very serious. I'm sure there are hundreds of dry martini clubs out there and they all know the perfect way of making the perfect dry martini. just like there are thousands of people who have a big bar all set up for the making of martinis.

The reason I post about this drink is because everybody should know about it and that it's one of the most stylish drinks you can drink. But the truth is that I don't like the taste. This is the type of drink I know I will enjoy when I'm 50. So until then I will enjoy other drinks but know that when I'm older I will be able to drink with real class.

Black Shirt with White Collar.

Like a White Collar Criminal.

The simplicity of white on black. There is something English over the whole thing.

A lot of us are stuck between our young style and a style that could be considered more grown up or adult. We still like the type of clothes that we had before but we are also looking around for something else. I haven't decided what that would be just yet, but there is not just one way to go.

One could try to combine the two. Or you can simply wear what the hell you want, when the hell you want to. If you have the means to have different styles on different days then you should do that. It makes the whole thing more fun.

And you should start with a black shirt with a white collar. The contrast between the white and the black makes the white look brighter and the black darker (he same goes for other color combos). What you get is a very clean shirt. A shirt with a more grown up look. And if you get a good one then this type of shirt will be good on it's own, you will not need a tie for instants.

In my mind this shirt is a key to a style that take inspiration from a English criminal look. Think London scam artist and the rest is merely organisation questions. After all the English have known for a long time how to have a grown up style, even the criminals.

Reebok The Pump.

Twenty Years of Pumping it Up.

Twenty years ago Reebok launched the Pump. One of the classics that is now riding the wave of retro sneakers. It's been made in a lot of different colors but this is the original.

The Pump is a clean sneaker, actually one of the few times that Reebok got it right. It combines white, blue and orange. Which is one of the better color combos. But this is truly a classic. It has been seen in movies, TV-show and of course on the basketball courts. Back then people really used this sneak for playing ball, something that is probably not happening today.

It is a good sneaker that will go well with almost anything, one just has to watch out. Combining The Pump with to "freaky" clothes might make you look like a kid. You might end up looking like a 80's brat trying to hard to fit in with the cool guys on the basketball court. But then again that might be exactly the look a lot of people are going for. All I'm saying is that it doesn't work for everyone. Everyone can't pull that off.

The Bloody Mary.

A Drink and a Meal.

The red drink that brings the taste combination of vodka and tomato. Perfect for Friday the 13Th.

Another classic that will make any Friday a good one. Here goes. 4cl of vodka in a highball glass with ice. Fill up with tomato juice. Add one dash of celery salt,Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce and lemon/lime juice. Then if you like it a 1/8 of a tea spoon of horseradish. Garnish with a celery stalk and a lemon/lime wedge and you're all set.

The origin of this cocktail is disputed. Some say it was invented in the 20's in Paris and others say that this is a drink from New York. Either way it's a tasty drink. And as it contains tomato juice it also makes you full. It's like a snack or a small meal. That is probably why it's often used as a pick-me-up for the day after. Gets rid of the hangover and you don't have to eat breakfast. Perfect for the person on the go.

But a Bloody Mary is a drink that should be enjoyed in the evening. Don't be afraid, order it tonight and you might not need that 5pm french fries serving.

Tonight I'm going to the Sushi Club. The only question is if Sushi works well with Bloody Marys.

Have a great weekend! And remember that there is an entire world out there just waiting for you.

The Simple Chair.

Sit with Style.

Multifunction made easy, a chair that doubles as a small shelf.

This "Number Seven Chair" by Jacobsen is a classic. 3 million was manufactured of the original and since then there have been a number of remakes and copies. With all right. It's a clean, basic form and it will work with every type of design scheme.

The last couple of years furniture like this has had a big revival. Different forms of pressed wood furniture. You can see them in design stores everywhere. They have a 60's/70's feel to them. Even if this chair hit the market in the 50's.

A chair like this will look good all on it own. Put it at the table or use it as a shelf to put something small on. Your bag or a plant. Anything that you think deserves a spot of it's own. I think I would use a chair like this as a night stand. A perfect place for an alarm clock.

Rug it out.

Perfect Fit.

"That rug really tied the room together. " The Dude.

And yes a Persian rug does tie a room together. It is amazing how this rug can look good in any home. Off course it's not going to change the room from one to another but in it's own way it will make the room look better.

Even if you have a fake, and most of the times you should get a fake. These rug's are often made by children in a country far away. A fake will more likly be a machine made rug. But it will still give a feeling of luxury. And it's always nice to rest your bare feet on the red and soft treads.

It fits very well with black and will go perfectly with the black leather couch and off course the red chair and the lamp.

My weekend has already started. A long one can make a lot of difference.
Make the best of it and we will see each other on Monday with more...

Nike Tennis Classic.

Cleanliness is a virtue.

Sneaker Monday is here. This week a look at the classic Nike Tennis shoe.

This is Nikes answer to the Stan Smith. And it is a very good answer at that. The clean lines that is to be expected from a tennis shoe combined with the all present swoosh. This is a type example of a clean sneak. Clean lines and not to much. A shoe that will work with almost anything. And it can be worn at work as well as at a more fancy occasion.

Even if the stores now turn to more fall and winter designs the white sneak is always cool. It's not the warmest or most convenient option but that doesn't matter. No really. At least not if you live in a city.

Was your weekend just as hard as mine? I think I'm still hung over from Saturday night. But that is to be expected when hitting the WG-Partys. In The Weekend Wars there's no rules and all bets are of.

Stay tuned for a great week.

Nike Air Max 90

Sneaker Monday, Like Air!

They're back and they are coming in packs. This Sneaker Monday brings you the Nike Air Max 90.

The old Nike Airs running sneakers has had a revival this year. And more of them are hitting the market every day. It's funny because earlier this year Nike made a remake of one of my dads old sneakers. The shoes he walked around with 20 years ago to cut the lawn with or to clean the car in is now being sold for 125€ in the stores. It's just a matter of time before we are all walking around in the same shoes we had as kids.

And here we have one of them, a clean black and white Nike Air. Even if this might not be my type of shoe I am getting around to the idea of getting a pair. The style has slowly grown on me since I've see it on the streets. It's not hard to match with and it's a really comfortable sneak to walk around with. Like Nike would say -Like walking on Air.

Definitely worth a consideration.

Leather Gloves.

Leather Up.

The wind is starting to gain strength. Time to cover up the mitts.

The black leather gloves are classics. For good reason, they are easy to match with, they are black and they are really style-clean. Black leather gloves can be worn by anyone. They have a tendency to work well with almost any type of style. It would actually be hard to fail with these ones.

The only hard thing is to find the right ones. The rule for leather gloves is generally the thinner the better. You still want your hands to look like hands. But if you're looking for winter gloves that should stand -20° this will be impossible. Thinner gloves are also more practical since you don't have to take them off every time you might need fine motor skills. Like handling paper and money. And you don't leave any finger prints.

Just think golf gloves and you should do fine.

Good with fall. Part 1.

The Flea Market.

There are a few things that are actually good with fall and that the weather is beginning to turn into crap.

One of the nice things to do in fall is to go to flea markets. The old things, the people, the whole set up works better when the leafs are turning gold and the air is a bit chilly. The mood is something special when you get up on a Sunday with a flea market day ahead. Just drinking a coffee to get yourself up and then going straight to the restaurant for brunch. Brunching in Berlin is like a hobby for some people and the interest in this way of eating had given the city a good supply of affordable brunch menus. That all-you-can-eat mentality really works in the city.

After you have filled up on to much food and to little drink it's time to go to one of the many flea markets. And the Berliners love their flea markets. You can find them on Saturdays but on Sunday it's for real, then it's business. And people have stuff to sell. Maybe people got a bit crazy and bought to much stuff in the 80's or they simple need the money, because flea markets are big business.

If you pick the right one you will get a nice mix of normal people selling off their memory's and professionals with € signs in mind. But some of these pros are artist trying to get by or young designers that want to get there brand going. It's that mix, a smoke, a cup of coffee and the fresh autumn air that makes the Flea Market one of the really good things about fall.

The only hard thing is to manage to get up to make a day out of it. I'm usually to hung over to walk out the door at 10 in the morning on a Sunday.

Lauren Hill.

Everything is everything.

This weeks song is from Lauren Hill, It's not just a good song but the video is one of the best.

I just wonder how you're supposed to interpret the video. That the city is a record and the streets are tracks on that LP. Is it that we really are the music. That a city is like a song and the world is a never ending medley. None the less a very good video.

Lauren Hill is a good musician, I mean we all listen to the The Fugees. Pretty much all there songs was played to death on MTV. But this was in the days when MTV actually played music videos and not just strange dating shows. And did you know that Lauren Hill was in the movie Sister Act 2 with Whoopi Goldberg back in 94. Playing the role of a trouble teen with a amazing musical talent.

Lately Miss Hill has bin away but a new album release is rumored.

Bookshelf.

Charlotte Perriand.

There are some classic designs that never go out of style. This is one of them.

It takes a french designer who spend a lot of time in Japan to get a shelf like this. Mixing styles but still staying clean. It can be amazing how good a design can become by merely sticking to the simple shapes. One should always try to keep it simple. Often enough less truly is more.

This shelf is a piece that will make any room so much better. Worth having in mind the next time furniture shopping is on the to-do list. Of course getting an original will be a time and money consuming endeavour. But there are bound to be remakes, copies and fakes out there. Or at least something that almost looks like this one.

When it's my turn to be rich I will get a couple of these. And everything ever posted on this blog. I would also like to take a moment to thank everyone that comment and follow the blog.
And pass the word on twitter and facebook. Because, the more the merrier.

The Coat.

Seriously casual.

The Coat is like the white t-shirt or the shirt, something that is needed in a wardrobe. Get the right one and you're set for some time.

Then the question is, which one? First you have to decide for when you want the coat. In other words for which season. Thin one for fall or a thicker one for winter. I would go for a thinner one. There's more possibilities with a thinner one. To get that serious casual look simple combine a t-shirt, a hoody and the coat.

There's a reason why the coat is plastered on every billboard when fall comes.

And if you have the suit to go with it, then you can really go gangster.

Cover your neck.

Storms are a Coming.

Summer is not over, it's just slowly fading in to autumn. And for those cold winds you need something to protect your neck with. Then this classic might help. But this is not only a fashionable accessorise but also a vital street war necessity. A piece of combat gear with many uses. You never now when the war begins. And as the pandemic moves on and spreads the scarf can be used as a mask. As a mask the scarf does not only hide your identity from big brother, if soaked with water it also makes it easier to breathe when the teargas comes flying.

It does not stop there, if you or a someone gets injured it can be uses as bandage until the medics can get there. And I'm sure that it can be used as a rope to tie thing together.

But in later days this scarf has hit the big fashion outlets and can be bought in all colors. No longer a way of showing solidarity with Palestine or ones political views. So which one to get? Well, the white with black or white with red can be a nice. All depending on what you wear with it. I like the green with black, the military one.

Cappy Cap.

Superior fit.

Hats come in a lot of shapes, colors and styles. And here is the undisputed king of baseball caps. These caps are no longer what you wear to support you home team in that true American pass time. Well of course some do but the majority has them to look good. New Era has bin around for a while now and I would guess that's because they make the official caps for the major league. But in the last couple of years they have moved there focus to make an enormous number of different caps. There are thousands and thousands of these.

So which one should I pick? Well first of all if you have a favorite team then pick that teams cap. I live in Europe and here we don't give a crap about baseball so here it doesn't matter. But for the ones in the US this could matter. Don't pick one that has to many colors, it might seem cool now but after a week or two that screaming green is not going to be so much fun. And off course it's hard to match with your clothes. If you wear more white than black, pick white and the other way around. And make sure that you get the right size because you can't change it. Get it a bit bigger if your thinking about growing longer hair. But it's good quality.

If your looking for one here in Berlin, check Hackescher Markt where the New Era Flagship store is located. They have a good selection.

Black Tie.

Tie Yourself Up.

For those who have missed the last couple of Fridays here at The Best Stuff I See I just want to say. Get a white shirt and the cuff links to match. Then go and get yourself a black tie.

As bin said the combo of a white shirt, cuff links and a black tie is something that everybody should have in there closet. Not only is it required for occasions like weddings, funerals and baptisms but also when playing reservoir dogs. This in more fun if you get a bunch of guys together and everybody tries to actually stay in character. And if you get a black hat it's not gonna be hard to play blues brother.

In those games the shirt will be buttoned to the top button and the tie will be brought up high. This gives a very strict look. You don't have to have it like that if you're going to the club later on tonight like I am. Having the tie a bit relaxed and the top button unbuttoned gives a little more of a casual look.

And as the party goes on the tie works like a measurement on how drunk and how much fun you're having. If you get back home without your tie that normally means that you've had a pretty good night. At least that's what it always meant for me... ;)

Seize the moment and I will be back on Monday for more sneakers. You stay classy Berlin!

G Shock White.

Shock of White.

Time keeps on ticking no matter what we say or do. Still it moves in its own way. A day can move fast or slow even if it has the exact same amount of hours. And we have all broken down time to small units that can be easily counted and understood. And knowing is understanding so it's always important to know what time it is.

Casio brings up another classic with the G-Shock. The original black version has never really bin spot one. It has lacked something and felt plasticy in the wrong way. But that all went away with the white one. It's clean and it very easy to match with. Just wear something white and your there. And for the time being it's right on.

Don't forget to live in the moment, the time is now. ;)
