Friday and Saturday.

Arena and Villa.

The High-light of this weekend is without a doubt Arena tomorrow night. The entire area will be open. And with a line-up like that I'm sure it will be good.

When looking at what the weekend has to offer it's clear that it's summer. Summer in Germany offer so many different things that the clubs have it harder to get the DJs and the guests. Meaning they either relax, close or saves up for big things. The last is what's happening tomorrow in Arena. All the different parts of the arena area will be open. If it gets full then will be the biggest club in Berlin this weekend. Only thing is that it might be a really long line.

Tonight on the other hand is a bit trickier. Badeschiff will probably be nice. At least one good Dj will be playing, La Fleur. It's gonna be at the swimming area of Arena so it will be a beach kind of thing. Then there is always Bar 25. It's not just a after hour place, I really like it at night. Of course both of these depend on good weather. If the weather is not good then Villa is having a off season party (for them off season), that might be good.

Well, it's either that or just chilling somewhere.

Secret Island 2010

A New Nation.

Once a year a new nation appears on an island in Sweden. The Nation is called Schweutschland and from the 29Th of June until the 1St of August it celebrates with some of the best electro.

With a long line-up with some of the best DJs from both Sweden and Germany the festival is not only a place where you can party and enjoy good electro. It's also a small festival with makes the visitors more of a community than just paying customers. It's a project of getting people closer.

Not only are Djs like Jake the Rapper, 22 Rockets, D. Snyder and Fidelity Kastrow playing the festival. This year a competition was held and the winners are none other that the Fulast Crew.

Havet Är Djupt by Fulast

With this mix tape Niclas Stanik and Johan Påhlman got the most votes which in turn gave then a spot on the island.

Do they seem familiar? Well that's because they are also the resident DJs of Be The Weekend here in Berlin. Their set will surely get the island people dancing, just like they have gotten the BTW parties dancing.

Us vs Them.

Somewhat political.

California is the home country of tees, at least when it comes to t-shirts with prints. This one is from Us vs Them which seems to be a skateboard that like to make tees with political slogans.

I don't know if the people behind Us vs Them are truly political and if they want to change things with the use of t-shirt slogans. But maybe that doesn't really matter. The tees will get a message out there. A general feeling that says that something isn't really right out there.

And political or not their use of fonts and simple colorways leaves a number of nice t-shirts.

Tennis.

Again, summer=warm warm=tennis sneaker.

Yet another clean tennis sneaker from Nike. Classic design with a classic colorway. You can't go wrong with a sneak like this. It's gonna look good with everything. Mainly because of the colorway but also because a low tennis sneaker has a profile that work very well with jeans.

If you like what you see you can just head over to caliroots.com and order a pair.

Get Out.

Open Nature.

Everybody wants to party outside. Be it going on a road trip somewhere else or attending one of the many open airs.

It's now in full swing. Open Air that and Open Air this. Which is not a bad thing. Just a sign that people are trying to get the most out of the summer. I think that most people are slowly remembering that summers always go to fast. I mean we are soon in the last real summer month. Better enjoy while summer is here.

Today there is a number of open airs, one at treptower park and one in Neukölln at U-bahn grenzenalle. The one at grenzenalle will play drum and bass and the other one is electro. Tomorrow there is one behind the "wilden mädel" at ostkreuz. That's the once I know about now but I'm sure that is just scratching the surface.

But even if people want to be outside there is one thing that can stop it all. Sure the cops can but something much more powerful might happen this weekend, RAIN. If the rain falls then it can all go shitty and that will make it a club weekend or a watching-movies weekend.

I'm hoping for good weather.

Have a good weekend!

So here is a couple of high-lights.

Of course there are a lot more girls posting pictures that there are guys. And most of the time the guys that actually do post pictures are not on the same level. But a couple have a clean style. Here is one example.

Simply a good place to get some inspiration, if you like this kind of fashion that it.

Booka Shade - Bad Love from keirux on Vimeo.

Bad Love.

One of Booka Shades latest tracks. I hope it works to see the video because the bastards here has block all pages that has anything that could be fun.

It's not like the tracks from previous album Body Language but it is a good track. And not only that, it has a great video as well. Needless to say I'm posting this one because of their set at melt the other week. I'm lucky that they played on the stage next to where we (Redves and Allmightys) were selling tees, otherwise I would have missed them as I miss most of the bands at the festival.

If the video works then sit back and enjoy. If it doesn't work just head over to www.vimeo.com and see it there.

Obey Basic

Basic Script.

It's not easy to find really clean t-shirts for girls. But when you do, they are often very clean. This one is from Obeys summer line.

Sure, it might not be the most extravagant thing in the world but it is clean. There is a reason why it's called Basic script. I would say it's a clean summer tee that I would like to see more often. Especially combined with short shorts, knee socks and a pair of low sneakers. I think you know what I mean. A bit of a street-wear soccer look.

Besides. As I always say, there is something special with a woman in a tee and a pair of sneaker.

Freshy.

Being in the scorching sun at Melt makes you really appreciate a pair of thinner sneakers. Like this tennis sneaker from Nike.

Got back way to late last night from the festival. It was fun, but a lot of work. And when working 10 + hours a day in the heat and the sun you want something that isn't to warm on your feet. I was doing this in my Stan Smiths but if I had the cash I would like to have done it in a pair of these bad boys.

The design is clean and the colorway is also simple and clean. This is a pair of sneaks that will match with almost anything. Check out more pics at www.caliroots.com

Melt Festival 2010

Festival Time.

Tomorrow the festival Melt starts. Not only will big names from the electro scene be there but also the big bands of indie.

Starting tomorrow the old industrial area knows as Ferropolis will be packed with people. On five stages and a so called sleepless floor, names like Booka Shade, The XX, Miike Snow, Oliver Koletzki and many more will be playing. Looking through the line-up I also see a lot of band that I have written about here (wonder why?).

With that said. Be it listening to your favorite Austin Texas indie band or staying awake to hear Villalobos set, it has something for everyone. This being my first Melt festival I can only imagine what kind of party it will be. I imagine the classical combination of sex, drugs and music will be the guidelines for many.

First I didn't think that I would get to go to Melt since the tickets been sold out for a while but thanks to my friends over at www.revdes.com I will be selling t-shirt for www.allmightys.com. So if you're going to the festival make sure to stop by our stands and check out the clean tees.

We are heading down first thing tomorrow morning and I don't thing we will have a Internet connection so just in case I will say -Have a good weekend!

To the point.

Like it normally is, tees with prints comes from skate/surf brands. This one is from the California based brand Analog.

Oh yes it's tee time again. From Analog we have a t-shirt that illustrates (again) how something simple is normally a sure way of getting a clean tee. Okey the "trick" they use on this one is one of the older ones. Take a picture of something that you think is cool and then make it black and white, play a bit with the contrasts in photoshop and you're done. Somehow it seems to work almost every time.

This specific t-shirt can be found on www.karmaloop.com but you can also take a look at analogs other t-shirts at www.analogclothing.com

Don't underestimate the power of a good t-shirt.

Air Max 90

Keep on keeping on.

Without a doubt the biggest trend in the sneakervers the last couple of years has been the runners. Here is the Air Max 90 in a new colorway.

Originally it was named Air Max III but in 2000 Nike changed it to 90, referring to the year it was first launched. First made purely as a running shoe it has not had a clear place with sneaker fans. But when Nike started to release re-makes in new and much cleaner colorways it found the place it has now. Sporty and relaxed but not directly connected to the basket and hip-hop culture.

These Air Max 90s have a mix of leather and mesh and are hopefully not to warm. With a colorway like this it's a really good looking sneaker. The only problem with the Air Max sneakers are that in bigger models they tend to look to big.

It's not often I wish I had smaller feet but when looking for Air Maxes I do.

Mini Vacation.

Staying put.

A short vacation in your own city. Perfect for summer.

The word vacation normally make me think about a country far away. Something that involves going from point A to point B, at least a couple of hours in some kind of big container. But there are other ways of doing it. One that can change the way you see your own city is very simple. Just stay. Take a couple of days off from work and just do some stuff in your own city. You can be a tourist and go to the places that you normally don't have time to visit. You can also just walk around and take a look.

That is what I'm gonna start doing tomorrow. Taking three days off I get a short work week and a really long weekend. Which means that today is my Friday. And with that said, this will be the last post for this week. But to make up for posts lost this will be somewhat of a double post.

Music Pillow.

As I said before, everything can be designed and everything can get "graphic".

Who doesn't like something well designed? That typical clean font for the text and the classic simplification of a photo. Hell, maybe that's all design is about. Taking away everything that isn't necessary. Leaving the basic and taking away that which makes it to much.

And I would say that this pillow does just that. Even with just three colors (and not very bright colors at that) it's gonna get a lot of attention laying in a couch or on a bed. This and a bunch of other pillows are a collaboration between Acrylick (a LA brand) and Andrew Sebastian (a textile designer and a pillow maker).

It's definitely worth a look at the other pillows, just click yourself over to www.hhv.de

If I had the cash for such thing I would order one right now. But I will put my money on my short "staying put" vacation that starts later today.

So have a great week and weekend and we will be back on Monday.

Nice Nike.

The colorway is not my cup of tee but the design of the sneaker is. Air Force II is just very clean.

It's simply a nice design. They really got it right when they did this one, making good use of lines and fabric. I especially like the patch on the heel (that in this colorway is black).

If you feel the urge to get a pair of these you need to order them from the English site www.jdsports.co.uk Because Nike is Nike and they like to make there sneakers exclusive by just releasing a specific model in only one store.

But still, clean sneak.

Open Air

Outdoor.

I just asked if there was any outdoor parties this weekend. Here is one of them.

Describing an Open Air is simple. Electronic music being played outside. Normally organized illegally in a park or somewhere a bit outside of the inner city. Finding it can be a problem. Getting informed on the location can be tricky. You hear it from someone who heard it from someone else. Or you search the Internet for the details.

They more often happen on Sundays as after-hour parties. As a time for dancing and chilling and coming down from Saturday. I like it more when they are parties that go upwards. On a Friday or Saturday night. Sure it's not the same "being close to nature dancing" thing but more of a festival thing.

Tonight there is one in Neukölln and on Sunday somewhere else. And after or before I'm sure something else is happening.

Radiator.

Slim heat.

Everything can have a nice design. All radiator should look as good as this one from Cordivari.

You might not think about radiators when you think about design. You don't think about Italy when someone says - Designed radiators. But that's just what it is. It's the radiator for the once with money.

This is the way I want my radiators to look. If that was the case, it would not be something to hid anymore. It's just to bad that almost all radiator are the same ugly white things. That look like they do because it's the cheapest way to produce them.

This is what I think. If things are designed to look good people who use them will feel better. And that goes for all things that people come in contact with. Good design effects people in a good way.

Fantasy. A thought.

Dream more.

Everybody is looking for the fantasy. Why don't we all get there?

What is it that makes it possible for some people go get to that place which I can only dream of? When thinking about it I can only come down to a number of things. It's very possible that I have just not found the physical place that is "my" spot. Or it's that I haven't been able to create that place. With my history it's the second one that is the case.

And it's true what they say. It's all up to you. You can't expect things to change around you if you don't change first. So how could I find that place if I'm not willing to do something to get it. Would it even have a meaning if it was not hard to get?

Only trough action comes change.

Irons

You know it.

"Don't ask me to play shit!" could be a reference to pretty much anything. And that's what makes it work.

Irons is a brand from in4mation. A company working out of Honolulu, Hawaii. In their very colorful description of them self they say: "In4mation’s strength in this niche market is built upon a set of varied experiences, from being clothing reps, buyers, freelance designers and pro/am skate and surf team riders. Ryan, Todd, Rhandy and Jun have a resume list that embodies Hawaii’s action sports, lifestyle and retail market for the past decade." So like most streetwear brands they have that skater/surfer attitude on life.

Sure I wouldn't mind living on Hawaii spending my days surfing but that is just the feeling that they are selling. It's not real. But what we can actually see is a line of really good t-shirts. Surfing or skating it doesn't matter, almost anyone will look good in a tee like that.

New Colorway.

Soon Nike is launching a very colorful colorway for their Dynasty High. This one with mainly blue dots and another with purple dots.

This picture doesn't really do this sneaker justice. The Dynasty High is a well design sneak, you just can't see it in this picture. It look much better when someone is wearing it. Hell, most high sneakers looks strange when the tongue is all laced up like that.

I like the colorway and the idea to have it colorful. It also seems like this is what the designers are going with. More and more colorful sneakers are popping up and it's probably gonna be even more. Might not be my style but it's fun to see.

At the moment you can only order these from Japan but it wouldn't surprise me if you see them in a Nike store close to you very soon.

Midsummer!

Let's get fucked!

Today Sweden is celebrating Midsummer's eve. It's all about two things, alcohol and sex. That is pretty much the whole deal. Even if no one wants to admit it.

Most people in Sweden would say that it's a old tradition that is (now) about sitting down with family and friend and having a nice dinner. The thing they don't mention is that everybody that can will get drunk. And not just drunk but Swedish do-or-die drunk.

I would dare say that the majority of swedes have two goals on midsummer. One: Get drunk. Two: Fuck. I base these facts on how it was growing up in Sweden and on my own thoughts. As a child you are unaware of these things. But very early you realize that something is different about this party, about this night. Mom and dad don't normally act like that even if there is a party. For example, the only time I have seen my father pasted out was one a midsummer's eve. And my dad is not even big on getting drunk.

The sex part take a bit longer to understand. It's first in your teens as you notice it. You see that a lot more people are flirting. Drunk as they are they start to sit closer and closer around the table. And before you know it the two people who were just sitting there are now gone. Off to a empty room somewhere3 or a patch in the forest where no one can see. But the real dream is the late night skinny dip in the lake. The idea of finding someone and going to the lake. Fucking in the wild and beautiful Swedish nature.

The reason for this kind of behavior is in the back bone of a Swed. The long and hard winter makes Sweden a country full of summer and sun worshipers. The summer is short so you have to "passa på". "Passa på" being a kind of carpi diem thing. Midsummer's eve is the start of the short summer. The time of year that all Swedes live for.

But it's of course different here in Berlin. Especially this weekend. Because this weekend is Fusion. Which means that everybody who likes to party are at the festival. Leaving Berlin much much calmer. So how do I celebrate this joyful pagan holiday in a empty Berlin?

Simple! I round up as many swedes as I can, get a couple of bottles of Swedish schnapps and it's on. The night will not be over until someone pukes and someone gets to fuck.

Happy Midsummer!

I've been thinking about my corner here on the internet and what I actually write. Trying to figure out what is crap and what is good. HUF Hupper Numero Uno

111.

The number one. The first official shoe from HUF. Of course it's a limited edition, only being sold in San Fransisco and Los Angeles.

With this sneaker Huf is trowing them self into the sneaker game. They released it just this weekend. Only 111 pair were up for grabs so they are probably all gone by now (It would be strange otherwise).

But it is a clean sneak. The cut reminds me of a chuck but there is also alot of a dunk high and toki feel to it. The colorway is also clean, even if I'm not that into the big contrast of dark colors and a bright white sole. That's somehow hard to pull off.

Even though, I am wondering if it's gonna hit better with the streetwear crowd or if it's gonna be more of a "fashion" sneak. Either way it's a nice high sneaker that should go well with jeans.

Summer Weekend.

Indoor Outdoor.

The outdoor season is picking up. Everybody wants to be outside even if it's not the weather for it. Good thing that most places offer outdoor and indoor floors.

Two things this weekend. Number one: Arena. Tonight a number of DJs from the Nordic countries are setting up in Arena Clubs second to last night. But don't worry it's just the second to last night before the summer break.

Number two: Möbelrücken-Sommernachtstraum at Mädchen Internat. Mainly because of the location. It's a interestingly dirty/strange place. Somehow a good representative of Berlin.

But if that's doesn't seem to be your kind of scene then here's a few other tips. Tonight there is 24 Stunden Liebe, Sex und Eitelkei in K-Pax and Muckefuck in brunnen str 70. And tomorrow is a big Berghain night. They have a great line-up and the line will probably be extra long. And if the weather is nice then the Bar will most likely offer it's magic.

Trunk your junk.

Summer and swimming go together. And even if taking a dip in your birthday suit is very refreshing, it could be nice with some trunks too.

It's always nice to find something that looks good and doesn't cost to much. These are from H&M and goes for around 7€. That's nothing compared to other brands. It's crazy when you look at some of the prices. I mean, swimming trunks for 50€ or more. Does that make sense?

Anyway, a clean pair of trunks all in black. Hard not to make that work and it's a lot better than all these surfer trunks that everybody insists on wearing. If you're not a surfer on Maui then maybe you should re-think the whole "extreme"/colorful flowers thing. Just saying.

Obama WTF!?

Dude?

I'm giving up on this guy right here. I thought like so many others that the slogan "Yes we can" stood for change. It's clear now that it didn't.

I should have listen to the people that said that it doesn't matter who the president of the US is. That things will keep on going in same direction as Bush set up no matter what. Because a year and a half has passed and what has really changed?

What's really disappointing is the fact that it now seems that Obama straight up lied about so many of the things he promised before the election. He said that he would end the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, close down Guantanamo Bay and stop the practise of rendition. None of these things has happened. Some would say that it's hard to change such things when there is a financial crisis going on. That argument doesn't hold up. Bush managed to set all these things up in a time of financial troubles. So what is holding O back from being true to his word?

And those things are just a fraction of what Obama promised to change but didn't do.

It's time to face it, it doesn't matter who is president. It's time to face the fact that there is no change that we can believe in. I say we got tricked. We wanted someone who talked about peace and freedom but all we got was empty words.

I hate being disappointed but I should have seen this coming.

Hard to find.

I just spent an hour trying to find a picture of this tee in white with black logo. You can see it at karmaloop but I can't get to my computer.

I give up, that was just not worth it. I wanted to show a really nice, white, clean t-shirt from a brand with talented designers. But now I don't want to. Now I just want to bitch about the internet and Crooks and Castles in general. Damn you internet!

Well I guess it's not the internets fault. It's really karmaloop.coms fault. They are the ones not being able to make a web site that works properly.

So if we move on, all I really wanted to point out is that Crooks and Castles have alot of really nice t-shirts. The entire brand produces many clean designs ranging from tees to sneakers. The only thing one could question is that they are often thinking to much in the sense of quantity rather than quality. Because if you drop so many t-shirts a month some of them are bound not to look very good.

Alife Indoor Low/Blue

With Blue.

Back in April I wrote about this sneaker in the post Alife Indoor Low, now it's here again but this time with a nice sky blue heel.

What was true then is also true now. Alife has produced a very well designed sneaker. A low leather tennis shoe. The only difference from the all white original is the blue details. But I have to say this is almost better than the previous model. Sky blue and white is a really good color combo. So if you like blue and need sneaks to match, then get yourself a pair.

Man am I tired, this weekend was a good one. But being out on the town leaves it's marks. Like hurting feet. I should get a new pair of sneakers that aren't so warm.
