Black Shirt with White Collar.

Like a White Collar Criminal.

The simplicity of white on black. There is something English over the whole thing.

A lot of us are stuck between our young style and a style that could be considered more grown up or adult. We still like the type of clothes that we had before but we are also looking around for something else. I haven't decided what that would be just yet, but there is not just one way to go.

One could try to combine the two. Or you can simply wear what the hell you want, when the hell you want to. If you have the means to have different styles on different days then you should do that. It makes the whole thing more fun.

And you should start with a black shirt with a white collar. The contrast between the white and the black makes the white look brighter and the black darker (he same goes for other color combos). What you get is a very clean shirt. A shirt with a more grown up look. And if you get a good one then this type of shirt will be good on it's own, you will not need a tie for instants.

In my mind this shirt is a key to a style that take inspiration from a English criminal look. Think London scam artist and the rest is merely organisation questions. After all the English have known for a long time how to have a grown up style, even the criminals.

Adidas Scarf.

It's blowing cold out there.

If you have the cash, you should keep yourself warm with this scarf from Adidas Originals.

The scarf is a important piece, it does not only keep your throat and neck warm but it also compliments your style. That is if it's the right one. Get the wrong one and everything else you're wearing will look like shit. Okey, maybe not shit but it will not make you look better.

One way to go is to get a lot of different scarfs so you always have one that will go with what you're wearing. Another way to go would be to get one maybe two that are fairly neutral in color that can be combined with almost anything. Like this one from Adidas. Black and white with a cool pattern. It seems pretty big as well which makes it something to have all winter. The only down side with this one is (as it so often is) the prize. 200€ they want for it. I can hardly believe it. 200€!, damn. They try to justify it with the fact that it's made from cashmere. But still, that is damn expensive.

I will not get this one but I will try to get something like it. It will not be easy. It's always hard to find exactly what you are looking for.

Why did I go and lose my scarf?

The XX.

Night Time.

Nice bittersweet music.

The XX is a new band from London that released their first album now in August. They play a melodic, serene and heart full music. It's easy to get pulled in to it. Some music has that effect. When listening to it you stop what you are doing and you just listen. This song did that the first time I heard it. There is something about the melody and her voice.

They had a concert here in Berlin last week. A friend of mine was there. He told me that they were very nervous. That they were to nervous to speak to the audience and that they played the songs exactly as in the album. Not feeling secure enough to improvise on stage. He also pointed out that they almost seemed surprised that so many people came to their concert. Despite all that they managed to please the crowd.

Things must be happening very fast for them.

Stuff might not be happening that fast for me but I would like to say thank to everyone and I will see you all later tonight.

Revdes.

With Reverse Destruction.

Berlin is a city full of small stores and new brands. Here's one of them.

Revdes is a fairly new brand that has produced a lot of nice t-shirts and hoodys. The designs make use of colors and shapes in the best of ways. Also using glow in the dark elements, you don't see that very often. Simply said, it's my kind of brand. You can see that a lot of ingenuity went into the making. And the fact that the brand is always moving forward just gives Revdes more plus points.

The designers and founders of the brand are Richi and Hans. They are starting up small but it will just be a matter of time before you can see their designs in stores close to you. If you're in Berlin, make sure that you stop by their store at Simon Dach Strasse 21. If you can find it that is. It's not the biggest of stores. You can also see the stuff on their web page revdes.com.

I should make time to get over there next week, they have some new tees that I haven't seen yet.

Leather Gloves.

Leather Up.

The wind is starting to gain strength. Time to cover up the mitts.

The black leather gloves are classics. For good reason, they are easy to match with, they are black and they are really style-clean. Black leather gloves can be worn by anyone. They have a tendency to work well with almost any type of style. It would actually be hard to fail with these ones.

The only hard thing is to find the right ones. The rule for leather gloves is generally the thinner the better. You still want your hands to look like hands. But if you're looking for winter gloves that should stand -20° this will be impossible. Thinner gloves are also more practical since you don't have to take them off every time you might need fine motor skills. Like handling paper and money. And you don't leave any finger prints.

Just think golf gloves and you should do fine.

Good with fall. Part 1.

The Flea Market.

There are a few things that are actually good with fall and that the weather is beginning to turn into crap.

One of the nice things to do in fall is to go to flea markets. The old things, the people, the whole set up works better when the leafs are turning gold and the air is a bit chilly. The mood is something special when you get up on a Sunday with a flea market day ahead. Just drinking a coffee to get yourself up and then going straight to the restaurant for brunch. Brunching in Berlin is like a hobby for some people and the interest in this way of eating had given the city a good supply of affordable brunch menus. That all-you-can-eat mentality really works in the city.

After you have filled up on to much food and to little drink it's time to go to one of the many flea markets. And the Berliners love their flea markets. You can find them on Saturdays but on Sunday it's for real, then it's business. And people have stuff to sell. Maybe people got a bit crazy and bought to much stuff in the 80's or they simple need the money, because flea markets are big business.

If you pick the right one you will get a nice mix of normal people selling off their memory's and professionals with € signs in mind. But some of these pros are artist trying to get by or young designers that want to get there brand going. It's that mix, a smoke, a cup of coffee and the fresh autumn air that makes the Flea Market one of the really good things about fall.

The only hard thing is to manage to get up to make a day out of it. I'm usually to hung over to walk out the door at 10 in the morning on a Sunday.

Bookshelf.

Charlotte Perriand.

There are some classic designs that never go out of style. This is one of them.

It takes a french designer who spend a lot of time in Japan to get a shelf like this. Mixing styles but still staying clean. It can be amazing how good a design can become by merely sticking to the simple shapes. One should always try to keep it simple. Often enough less truly is more.

This shelf is a piece that will make any room so much better. Worth having in mind the next time furniture shopping is on the to-do list. Of course getting an original will be a time and money consuming endeavour. But there are bound to be remakes, copies and fakes out there. Or at least something that almost looks like this one.

When it's my turn to be rich I will get a couple of these. And everything ever posted on this blog. I would also like to take a moment to thank everyone that comment and follow the blog.
And pass the word on twitter and facebook. Because, the more the merrier.

Black Tie.

Tie Yourself Up.

For those who have missed the last couple of Fridays here at The Best Stuff I See I just want to say. Get a white shirt and the cuff links to match. Then go and get yourself a black tie.

As bin said the combo of a white shirt, cuff links and a black tie is something that everybody should have in there closet. Not only is it required for occasions like weddings, funerals and baptisms but also when playing reservoir dogs. This in more fun if you get a bunch of guys together and everybody tries to actually stay in character. And if you get a black hat it's not gonna be hard to play blues brother.

In those games the shirt will be buttoned to the top button and the tie will be brought up high. This gives a very strict look. You don't have to have it like that if you're going to the club later on tonight like I am. Having the tie a bit relaxed and the top button unbuttoned gives a little more of a casual look.

And as the party goes on the tie works like a measurement on how drunk and how much fun you're having. If you get back home without your tie that normally means that you've had a pretty good night. At least that's what it always meant for me... ;)

Seize the moment and I will be back on Monday for more sneakers. You stay classy Berlin!

G Shock White.

Shock of White.

Time keeps on ticking no matter what we say or do. Still it moves in its own way. A day can move fast or slow even if it has the exact same amount of hours. And we have all broken down time to small units that can be easily counted and understood. And knowing is understanding so it's always important to know what time it is.

Casio brings up another classic with the G-Shock. The original black version has never really bin spot one. It has lacked something and felt plasticy in the wrong way. But that all went away with the white one. It's clean and it very easy to match with. Just wear something white and your there. And for the time being it's right on.

Don't forget to live in the moment, the time is now. ;)

Dice cuff links.

Player got Style.

Last week I told you about the cleanliness of a white shirt. I also mentioned that if want to run in the big league you need to have a pair of cuff links instead of normal buttons. And here we have them, the players choice.

Not only is the color combo on these guys very clean, the shape and the feeling that goes with a dice is close to unbeatable. The dice is something that gives ideas about Vegas and just risking it all on one roll. Perfect for the one who likes playing games. And who doesn't like a good game?

Cuff links are details. And in my mind true style is something that lays in such details. The fact that what you carry is not a coincidence but a active choice. And with that said, make some choices and go out there in the jungle and show them that you got style.

After all it's Friday :)

Nintendo Clock

Game Clock.

What time is it? Check the game and you will know. When getting your living quaters in order one detail that should not be overlooked is the time. In other words clocks.

And there is alot of cool ones out there. And that's what makes it so much fun. You can make a clock out of pretty much anything. Like here a NES game. But don't let your imagination end there. The favorite cd that broke can be a clock. The weird LP record that you can't even listen to can be a sweet clock. And then there's all the strange and wonderful clocks that people have already made. Check the design stores for new ones or go to the fleemarket and buy some old junk that you can turn into a one-of-a-kind.

And who doesn't like a original clock? And if you made it yourself then you're gona get a lot of credit for it. If you didn't know it already, here it is one more time. Everybody loves an artist.

So go out there and be somebody!

Adidas Originals Top Ten HI

Blue and White Baby!

Here we have a very clean sneak. Two colors, classic Adidas blue and white that's whiter than snow. This is the type of sneak I would like to see more of on the streets. And it's cleanliness will surely turn some heads. Those heads might be sneaker freak heads but that still counts. Off course not as much as other peoples heads, but still.

Match these bad boys with blue jeans and a white tee and your set for the last summer days. If you really want to make it clean then have blue details on the tee and wear a NY Yankee's cap. I think you know where I'm going with this. And the same goes for the lady's but you should have some short jeans shorts and over all just show some more skin. ;)

There's so many sneaks but so little time...

White Shirt.

Blazing White.

Buttoning a shirt is a special feeling. Buttoning a nice shirt is even better, especially when you have a shirt that require cuff links. But besides the feeling of putting it on it's all about style. I don't think it's possible to NOT look good in a nice white shirt. Okay, maybe if the person in question is ugly as f#ck (but then nothing is going to help). My point is that it's hard to go wrong with a white shirt.

And if you think that just a white shirt is not enough to hit the club with then simply put on a black tie. I have noticed that not to many people wear this combo when going out. Most people might wear a colored shirt or a t-shirt when going out. But just the white shirt and the black tie combined with your other "normal" clothes will make you stand out. It's strange really, because a white shirt and a black tie is one of the most classic things to wear.

So when in doubt, white shirt.

Have a great weekend and I we will see each other on Sneaker Monday.

Family Guy Monopoly.

Straight from Spooner Street.

It might be summer and everybody is thinking it's all just about hanging out in the sun or chilling at the beach. At least we all wish that it was like that. But we all have to come to terms with the fact that summer has rainy days as well. And what can you do on a rainy day? You guessed it. Boardgames.

Monopoly was one of the first boardgames I really liked. Either it that has something to do with the strategy part of it or it's my evil capitalistic side showing it's face. Gaining capital and trying to bankrupt your friends. So what better way to do that than trying to establish your own monopoly in Quahog.

A couple of my roommates they also like boardgames. Apparently they play quite often. This being the off season, I haven't seen them play yet. That will change when autumn gets here. Then it's gonna be time for Trivial Pursuit. That's when years of to much TV really pays off. I'm a master of useless knowledge.

And remember after the rain the sun always shines.

Solar Power

The One True God.

Let there be light and there was light. It's not a coincidence that that is right in the beginning of a certain book. It illustrates how important the light is. The Christians got the idea of the one god from the Jews. The Jews got the idea from Egypt. The place where Ra was the sun and the sun the one god. What are you really praying to in your church?

And what would we do without the sun? Hide in bunkers under the earth? Hiding like rats. In the long run we would not have a chance. We would starve and wither away.

It's good that we're not in that situation. At least not yet. The sun holds so much energy. It is the real reason we exist. And none of the fossil fuels that we use today would be there if it wasn't for her. And even though this planet sucks up every little ray of sunshine it can get, there is still so much to go around.

Without clean energy we will never be able to stay on this planet. The reason for our energy and resource problems is the lack of clean energy.

It's time for all nations on this rock to start building. Use the desert and the hot valley's. Build vast solar parks that stretch as long as the eye can see. That will be a big part of the solution.

The only time that exists is now.

The Boom Box.

The Ghetto Blaster.

It's high time to bring out the Boom Box. The old school blaster that makes the old folks turn there heads. I'm not talking about a portable stereo but like in the picture, a box in silver with two decks and clean speakers.

Think about it. When was the last time you saw one? When ever that was it was to long ago. A blaster is not only very clean it also brings a nice sound to any outdoor activity.
Hook up your mp3 player and it's hard not to start moving.

Sure, you might think that it's gonna be heavy to carry or that you will have to pay for a lot of batteries. Small problems. On any Boom Box you should be able to attach a strap so that you can carry it like a sports bag over your shoulder. And if the strap has some nice colors it's just gonna make the box that much better. I would get one in rasta colors. Or a color combo that fits to your sneaks. That leaves the batteries. Easy, just buy rechargeable ones. And when you can, hook it up with the cable.

The beach, the park or just walking around in town is so much better with a Boom Box. So let's fill the world with music.

Adidas Bag.

Sports Bag.

We all have stuff, some has more than others but we all have our share of junk. And some of this stuff is good to carry around. Hence a bag.

This type of bag might not be the most practical one but what it lacks in practicality it makes up in style. It goes perfectly with a white pair of sneaks and a white tee. I would call it a really nice summer bag. Something to carry the beers and the other beach or park things that might be needed. I think that I would need one later today when I head over to IKEA to do some food shopping. Yes they have food, food that I can't get anywhere else. To bad that it's so expensive but when your trowing a Sweden party you need the right goods.

Happy up here

This is just a really good video and a really good song. The space invaders theme in a alternative city is well made to say the least. Even if Futurama already did it. I wonder in which city they made this video. Somehow it reminds me of Berlin but the sidewalks doesn't match. It would not surprise me if it is a Norwegian city, maybe Oslo.

Just bringing some music while it's still possible. Remember to take care of the internet and make sure to fight anyone that tries to take it away. Just blow them out of the sky.

Rene Magritte

The Son Of Man 1964
Rene Magritte 21 November 1898 – 15 August 1967

I saw a painting by Magritte on TV the other day and thought that more people should know this painter. He is one of the most famous Belgian (if not the most famous) painters. But Magritte has a very interesting life story. When he was 13 his mother killed herself by drowning. Something that would most likely haunt him for his entire life.

His first paintings date back to 1915 and were impressionistic. He later studied and married and went off to serve in the Belgian infantry. He stayed in Brussels during the Nazi occupation. After the war he was tight on money and to solve this he started to make fake Picassos, Chiricos and Braques paintings. He later also went in to the fake money printing business. Not long after that his career got started.

He seems to have been a interesting person, but most of all his paintings are somehow just very intriguing. So if you get the chance, then see one live.

Adidas Originals Campus 80's White on White

White as snow.

New week and new shoes. Let's start this week with a Sneaker Monday. This time around it's Adidas that has dropped a very nice sneak. One could get blinded be the brightness of them. Here we have the example and I mean THE example of a clean sneak. White on white with the classic Adidas lines. I have to find out where I can get a pair here in Berlin. With that said this is a sneak that will work with anything (or nothing for that matter). With this one you can't go wrong.

I hope that you enjoyed Bobo's entry the other day. If I'm lucky I will be able to convince him to write some more stuff for us. But we will see what happens here in Berlin. Bobo can't really be trusted. I mean, I like the guy but he's sneaky. And not in Sneaker Monday type of way.

And just because it's a new week and the weekend is far away does not mean that one can not enjoy the summer. So, Carpe Diem all!
